The brick walls received 10 cm of graphite insulation, and the windows were replaced with triple-glazed insulated plastic ones. A condensing gas boiler was installed, providing heating through radiators in the wet blocks and underfloor heating in the other rooms. The flat roof structure on the western side was built with fire-resistant 50x25 wooden beams, which provide space for solar collectors and a 5 kW solar panel.
